The Mic is On: It’s about Shiny Object Syndro-

Filed under: Open Social — @ 6:58 pm

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different Here’s how it works. It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME. The rules are simple — be nice. There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it. Oh Look! Surely, you’ve heard of Shiny Object Syndrome — that behavior

Open Mic 7pm Chgo Time: It’s about Shiny Object Syndr-

Filed under: Open Social — @ 2:33 pm

Oh Look at . . . Surely, you’ve heard of Shiny Object Syndrome — that behavior that allows any small change to be a distraction. Are you plagued by it? Shiny objects seem to be everywhere these days. Do you get distracted easily? Is it getting harder and harder to hold people’s attention? Do you think shiny objects are a bigger problem than they once were? Is shiny object syndrome only found on the Internet? ahem . . . Oh, and bring example links to share — shiny objects are fun.

Filed under: Open Social — @ 9:11 am

I’m looking forward to attending this year’s Education Unbound event, organised by digital agency Online Creative Communications. I’ll be joining Futurelab learning researcher Dan Sutch, teacher and web 2.0 advocate David Noble, and co-founder of the “School of Everything”, Andy Gibson, on the speakers’ panel for the evening event. Channel 4’s Matt Locke will be cat-herding, ahem, moderating what I’m sure will be a very lively discussion on all things related to learning and social media. Last
