An Open Letter to Twitter

Filed under: Open Social — @ 12:33 am

There’s been a lot of fuss over Twitter lately. Lots. Everyone is up in arms about the service in general, and some are even threatening to leave it forever (because THAT will help the situation, clearly). While there’s a lot of controversy over what Twitter is NOT doing, and a lot of cranky blog posts and bullshit about how they’re screwing up a good thing, there’s very little helpful or constructive comments out there. Because of that, and because I think that people are just being cranky a

22 Reasons to Use Twitter for Business and Pleasure

Filed under: Open Social — @ 11:21 pm

Last week I was invited to take part in a top secret Twitter Mission. I received a request from JulieTweets to arrive at a red door in San Francisco by 12:30 sharp! Thanks to GPS (asking the parking attendant) I found it promptly! Anyway, once I arrived I was greeted by one cool cat and 3 hot babes with cupcakes. I was in for sure now! The hot babes (savvy production crew) proceeded to set me up for video interview. Come to find out, I wasn’t the only top secret twit invited to the red door.  J

Google I/O Coverage - Part One

Filed under: Open Social — @ 10:42 pm

By some miracle I was awake when this conference began at 8AM (ouch), and I was impressed by the keynote. I am happy I made it to see it, I was thinking of skipping it. Keynote Speech The keynote, as I said was pretty good. In it, Google products were highlighted, but the real crowd pleaser was when Android (Google’s mobile phone solution) was used to show Street View and the compass feature was shown. This feature allows the phone user to move the phone around and have Google streetview fo

Filed under: Open Social — @ 9:43 am

It was just a year ago that Facebook elevated their college kids only social networking site from a classier MySpace to a web portal in training with their release of Facebook Platform. The Mic is On: We’re Having a Cookout Tonight!

Filed under: Open Social — @ 7:00 pm

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different Here’s how it works. It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME. The rules are simple — be nice. There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it. It’s a Picnic! It’s a B-B-Q!! Let’s get some friends and enjoy the even

Social media is a feature not a product…..

Filed under: Open Social — @ 3:32 pm

So Chris Anderson has given me my new favorite quote of the week. I spend a lot of time wrestling with both the power of Social Media and with the inane time-wasting most of it encourages..  I sense there’s something powerful there, but wrestle with Wisdom of Crowds, vampire-kiss-of-facebook-uselessness.   Jury is still out on what/why this is important long-term. We all know I agree with him on the long tail niche content theme - won’t belabor it here. One interesting stat lately. In looking
