It’s Like Open Mic Only Different Here’s how it works. It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME. The rules are simple — be nice. There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it. …Blogs and Blog Friends in 2007! We might talk about: Bloggers we met in

Digg’s IM Epedemic: Without Functionality the Community Turns to Gaming and “Corruption,” says Top Diggers (Disclaimer at the bottom of this post) The following is a plea to the Digg community and staff. Let’s recognize we have a problem on our hands and figure out what to do next. If we ignore this problem - we only compound it. Digg could go the way of MySpace if it doesn’t address its functionality problems and get rid of the “corruption that is becoming rampant,” according to sev

Thoughts on Sharing Lessons Submitted by Bill on Mon, 12/17/2007 - 14:28. I’m writing these ideas out quickly — there are sure to be holes in this, and gaps in this reasoning — please point them out in the comments. For some context on this post, see these two threads on Dan Meyer’s blog. Users working with online lessons will generally fall into at least one of the following categories: People searching for lesson ideas (probably the majority) People already creating content on their

Filed under: Open Social — @ 11:04 pm

Around six weeks ago Google came out with “Open Social” which was their stab at getting into the social networking scene. However in the intervening six weeks they’ve come up with zip. As a matter of fact the thing isn’t even done yet and isn’t expected for another year. What’s Open Social? open-source code to allow any participating social media site to implement a common set of application program interfaces (APIs) and create “universal” applications The problem is that even if it’s techni

Facebook Smacked in the Face(book)

Filed under: Open Social — @ 4:43 am

The last couple of months have not been kind to Facebook. First, the Open Social API challenged their application dominance when Google announced it last month with 40 some odd partners in tow. Second, the Beacon fiasco made Facebook look really bad (zits) when Facebook began to presume for its users - always a rookie dumb mistake - made by a lot wiser companies than this young social puppy. Then a couple of days ago,LinkedIn announced that they were releasing an API for application developers
